THE VOICE OF MOD-
Please, keep this on topic, people who were involved with the event have things to say, people who weren't I'd appreciate if you'd hold your tongues, this isn't a good time for it. I will of course mod the **** out of any such posts anyway, but it'd be nice if I didn't have to. I don't do this often. Also, please note that only off-topic/unhelpful posts from outside have been removed, I've no intention of modding any of the main thread unless asked to. Likewise, please don't respond folks, it takes 5 times longer to clean up the thread if there's 4 people saying "Shut up" ![]() Normal service is resumed- take it away Pete: to be a biker at Strathfillan on Sunday morning? The guy who runs/owns the site was spitting feathers when he opened the shop, and the looks from a lot of the site dwellers as they trudged to the toilets could have curdled milk. Apparently it was very close to the law being called, and for a while all bikers, not just Org members, were going to be banned from the site. Not quite sure where we stand TBH but he did allow bikes to book in for Sunday night. I know that one of the reasons that Beinglas was not considered was the noise rules they implemented. However I'm all for some sort of control on noise and drunken people riding bikes in the small wee hours. I hope that the people involved have had a chance to consider their behaviour and realise it wasn't appropriate for a family campsite and more in keeping with the Bulldog Bash or a WSB/BSB meeting somewhere. It seemed to be blown out of proportion on the morning as by the afternoon it seemed to have sorted itself out. and I think thats where it should be left

I was guilty of being part of a crowd that were still up and having a laugh untill the wee early hours... but called it a night before anything got out of hand and got my head down urging others to follow suit... Turns out it was earlier that i first thought too.
And although i was not part of anything that may have happened later than that i did feel embarrassed a bit by it all hearing stories in the morning. |

Welll nobody's dead and there was no damage to anything. Which is more than can be said for the group of kids also on the site who made a fair mess of the toilet block at the top.
So we were drunk, and any mess got cleared up. So a few people were woken up, but they'd still have found something to whinge at if all noise stopped at 11. Might as well do it properly... They were fine with us on the Sunday and Monday, so he must have counted his beans from selling 50x bacon buttys and realised maybe he can live with a bit of noise.

If you're looking for someone to blame, here I am.
Only realised my bike had been hidden at ~ 4.30am, had been in the pub most of the night, and had more before and after the pub. Moved my bike roughly 20feet, bike was started for around 20 seconds, rode it up the small path in the campsite, parked it, and then switched off, then I went to bed. Which is no comparision to the noise we were making up at the wigwam. Things were blown out of proportion. The things mentioned were wheelies, excessively revving and riding around the campsite. Can I add, I was in no fit state to wheelie, even if my bike could do wheelie's for more than ~ 1 second, that didn't happen. I didn't excessively rev the bike, the more controlled people around me said I didn't, and Northy was even woken. Riding around the campsite? I was lucky to move the bike the 20 feet up the track without toppling off, never mind riding around the campsite. The complaint was made about excessive noise, near to the families wigwam, where I wasn't there. Their wigwam must have been the one beside where we were drinking/playing rugby. Sure I shouldn't have moved the bike, and for that I apoligise, no one was hurt, I didn't run anyone over, and suggered for my drunken states the next day(s). |

Well no complaints from the wigwammers up by us. Old lady and family kept shouting
'oi pinky' ![]() Those in our wigwam ducked out gracefully before the wee game of rugger. Although I'm pretty sure that in area that took place there were only SV wiggerwammers anyway. My friend slept in the field in a tent and did not hear any bikes being revved. All the mess from the frivolities were cleaned up and everything was spic and span before I got to the main area in the morning....around 9. TBH I can't really say the noise was much over the top...because if it was I would have knocked somebodies block off, as I'm a light sleeper. It was a little loud in places, but I do have to point out blokes + alchohol = merriment. I must admit when I first heard that the good name of the org had been besmurched, I went to knock Sallys block off with a bike cover, but I was persuaded to hear the other side of things, and I really can only think that the complainants were a bunch of anti biking people, which is my conclusion on the matter. BUT...lads....next time just think a little more about the volume of both noise and drink when in a public campsite, as it wasn't closed off to us alone. But then again the owner of the site knew he had a giant group to stay so should have thought wisely about letting other guests spend money to stay....mind you all they think about is the lovely lolly that they are making, and yes loads of it I shouldn't wonder.

Maybe a private campsite would be better next year, then you don't have to worry about a thing
