grrrrr i just rote a really long thread about this subject and lost it all when i clicked submit so il keep it short this time,
ok few questions bout the sv1000 if anyof u guys n gals have one or had 1, does it suffer the same corrosion issues as the 650? how does the mpg compare to the cbr600fs? how does the 1000's top end spped compare to the 650? on the 650 i run out of the fun accelration at about 90 (private road) can i still buy a new sv1000? ive only found one 07 model on the net an its really cheep and black, i was after a black one and would have to fit a full fairiing cos i dnt really like the half one. i think thats all i asked for sorry for the shortness the last one was really rather plesant, anyways anything else u think i should know is welcome, thanks loads! ![]() o and i test rode the cbr last week and im testing a sv1000 on saturday |

i like the sv, i had my sv650 for 2 years and now i have the 1000, the thou is a bigger slower turning 650 with ooodles of power on tap and monster torque! id say the sv1000s is about the same as the 650 in build quality and the sv1000 is going to drink more than the cbr, but u either want a v twin or an il4? ive owned a cbr600 aswell and they are great bikes they do everything brilliantly! but like i say you either want V twin or il4? my thou does things to me that the cbr couldnt dream of.

i love the vtwin soo much, but i also love to corner fast and be able to switch the bike from side to side quickley, i really want a rsv but i cant affort that or the insurance, inline 4s are ok but the sound isnot great and i also like a bike wiv guts and grunt and the cbr just felt wizzy, does the sv1000 really suffer with corner speeds, if you put a sv1000 and cbe upagainst each other on a track who would come out on top? i also love the handling of the cbr, its so hard to chose something thats do differnt to each other

we had this conversation on another thread, the cbr would woop the sv on a track but how many track's do you ride on? i cant throw the thou around like the 650 or the cbr yet but Mattsv assures me he can! straight line speed the thou would murder the cbr but how many time do you exceed 150?

hmmm i love to corner low and fast so i guess i would have to sacrifice agilaty for sheer power, i dont think i will be able to decde untill i actully try one.
yeah true i dont really want to go 150 but im after that pure accelaration from 60+ like its like on the 650 from 0-60. can you get 07 sv1000's? i keep hearing mixed things about them being discontinued? would like a duke but my funds dont strech that far? and does the 1000 suffer from the dredded wet front cylinder like my curvvy (all fixed now tho) |

I have never had a problem with the front cylinder, and not heard of anyone else having problems either

Why don't you want the RR or any other modern SS600? For pure straightline acceleration the supersports 600's are all quicker than an SV1000. I know what you mean about the 650 once you get to 90mph. At 90mph in 2nd gear an SS600 is going absolutely ballistic, floating the front wheel off the ground and pulling as hard or harder than the 650 does on full throttle in first gear. It isn't until you get to 140 that the acceleration drops to the level of the 650 at 90mph.
The downside is that they are very buzzy and that can get on your tits. They don't noticeably lack low down grunt because they just have smaller gears to compensate so you are always running at higher revs for a given speed than on the 650 - so like I said they are buzzy. I've not ridden the SV1000 but I know that sometimes the stability of a bigger bike is nicer than the BMX handling of the SS600's. The 600's handling is amazing but unless you are a good rider you won't take bends any quicker than on the SV1000 I bet you. The rest of the time you feel like you are riding a scooter where as a larger bike gives you a feeling of road presence. Oh and the SS600's are damn uncomfortable but again I can't speak for the SV1000's comfort. Edit: If you really want an RSV then save up and get one. Don't buy a bike you don't really want just because you can't afford what you really want. I made that mistake twice and it cost me more in the long run when I ended up px'ing after 6 months and then a year cos I got bored and wasn't happy than if I had just splashed out and got what I really wanted to start with. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Last edited by Toypop; 19-03-07 at 08:49 PM. |

ild love the rr but its a little unpractical as i take my gf on the back all the time, its also lots more expencive.i wish i could of tested the cbr a bit more as it was a busy saturday afternoon in a busy town and where eva i went to get out there was traffic.
i might try the rr on saturday to im really stuck between minds still because i like vtwins and il4s, as for the rsv im going to wait till i get a few more noclaims and a few more years experience to bring down the four figure insurance quote i got for the rsv |
