Default London to Brighton Bike Ride

I did the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride yesterday (that's pedal bike).

I'm all sorts of sore today. 54miles which isn't massive, but there's a few hills in there (including one git near the end) and I didn't actually stop except for traffic - foolish boy.

I also forgot to get any sponsorship so the effort was kind of in vain, except for the personal satisfaction or whatever.

The bad bit about the day... 2:30am get up, 3:00am leave 4:15 at group meeting point, 4:45am group coach departs 5:30am coach arrives in London, 6:52 actually start, 11:22 I finish, 20:15 coach to take us back to the group meeting point finally firkin turns up. Got home at 23:30. Long day that.

Well done!

Did it last year. That final hill is a killer!

Felt like I'd been assaulted by the all blacks the next day so I know how you feel.

Think it's Radox time for you!

Fizzwheel - Thanks
Kinvig - I hadn't thought of Radox, that sounds like a very good idea.

Nah not IN London at all. T'was all the cages getting backed up and spoiling all my runs into nice corners on nice sweepy roads that was the problem!

Ah I see. We did seem to have a number of roads close or made one way for us. Which was cool. Not knowing where I was or anything I didn't think about the actual effect on local traffic - because we didn't see any - hehe. I think that was in the name of safety and I could see why it was necessary. It was pretty busy out there even with an early start and not stopping, apparently later on it was absolutely chokka.

Good on you, well done The Great Notts Bike Ride (Nottingham to Newark & back) is on next weekend if you fancy that one too Little bit easier as almost enforced stoppage in the grounds of some old crumbly ruin at the Newark half way mark.

Just to confirm. I did ride up that bugger of a hill. It might have been in bottom bottom gear and I was on a Hybrid (Pioneer Trail) but it was hard work. I really didn't know if I was going to manage it. I need to learn to drink more on these things. Currently putting together a wish list on Wiggle for some kit. Shorts and glove chiefly.
