First.. on the way up today...two bikes in front of me at a junction...guy in front turning right.Up whizzes this idiot on the bmw, rides past me and then rides straight on cutting infront of the guy turning right. Next...on the way through glendevon, I'm behind this guy who's waiting his chance to overtake. Next thing 1150gs rider horses past us both on a blind left hander scaring the ****e out of us both then sits behind the car the guy in front was waiting to overtake. On the way back from the green welly I'm overtaking a couple of cars on the straight...at the end of the straight there's a queue of cars on a sharp left-right-left up the hill. I slow up then next thing another BMW 1150 overtakes me and 2 cars on the 1st left hander.
Is this a BMW thing? |

They think they're invincible perhaps? "The master race"?..................
.........Who knows mate - the cars tend to be the same............. ....Brainless, Moronic, Wonkers. It could just be that according to figures from last year, the "adventure" bike sector was the fastest growing of all. Annoying none-the-less since they aren't all like that - honest. Funnily enough, going through Glendevon on Saturday on the way to Knockhill for the endurance race, we had a Rizla GSXR overtake us in a rather scary place. Glad to say that when we arrived he HAD got there safely along with his TINY one-liner plate. Garry ![]() |

That's what comes of riding Panzers, you expect to be able to invade other people's territory at will while being immune to damage... Seriously though, yep, just like Harleys and daft italian exotics Beemers seem to attract a load of eejits, I've seen that myself... same sort of people who used to drive Porsches backwards through hedges in the 90s. Funnily enough it's always the 2 beemers that block other bikes in at my work, or park blocking the disabled spaces. But on the other hand, some of the coolest people I've met have been on big daft beemers...

Maybe some think they have something to prove. My mate & encountered one on the way up to Donnington a few weeks ago...
"Must get past the sportsbikes, must get past the sportsbikes...." I have to say that those on here with the 1200GS show a much better personality (Except that Dr Rich bloke, he's a bit dodgy... ![]() . |

I've a mate with a 1150GS and he's so slow and careful I almost take up smoking again every rideout, just so's I could have a fag to pass the time while waiting at the side of the road for him.
So no, they're not all so inconsiderate or reckless, but the size, and poise of the bike with that front suspension, does lead the foolish into thinking they're invincible. Watch one on a windy day though, hilarious, they're not so much riding the bike as sailing it!! ![]() |

I should overtake two stationary bikes at a junction whilst the one in front is just about to turn right onto a main road then? I should overtake on blind left handers? I should speed up should I? Hmmm....that makes sense. |

This might have been something to do with the big BMW meet/rideout from Dundee area, tagged along with a few friends that were going on the run.. first meeting point was up in a small village on the banks of the Tay. Following my mate's Father in law on his GS was hard going up the small glen.. By god they things can go round corners!
