Post Data tool S4 Red issue

i have installed a data tool alarm installed at purchase of my bike.
now after my power issue i have spoke of before,
when the alarm is armed and i pick up my bike it now doesnt go off any more
but when i put it back down it does?
any ideas what could cause this? my dad has the data tool that if you basically tap the bike it gives off warning beeps, mine has never done this can it be set to?
PLEASE HELP ! ! !

Does your Dad have the System 3? I had the System 3 on my SV and any nudges on the bike and it used to beep away...now I have the System 4 on my GSX-R and it needs me to knock the bars against the stops (as an example) to get it to set it off. So my nudge sensor is set very low from the factory, and I checked the manual and it's only settable by an engineer - I'll get it changed at some point.

It goes off if I pick it up though, the tilt sensor seems to be working!

Oh, and it's a bit annoying it doesn't beep when I set it now - only flashes - and it does this on the automatic arming (since I changed it to fully arm instead of immobilise only). So I always have to ensure I've set it, anyways I decided I'd rather it fully arm quietly then partially arm noisily!

You just need to follow the manual, it takes quite a bit of messing about. You need to set your pin code first, too, before you can access the config of the alarm. Oh and when going into the config of the alarm, the instructions in the manual are slightly incorrect (and result in you not being able to access the config).

Basically in the manual you follow the instructions for configuring new keyfobs to get to the config, and there is a line something like "press the grey button on each new keyfob". What it doesn't say, is that if you just want the config, you still have to press the grey button on your normal keyfob! I had to check the web site instructions for that. It had me confused for about 15 minutes, as to why it wouldn't go in to config mode.

Once in config mode it's easy to change your alarm tone (though I haven't done that - I only changed it to fully arm instead of only immobilise).

Edit: what I changed was the auto-arm mode - as standard, it will do this beep that gets faster and faster but that will only put the immobiliser on, not the nudge or tilt sensors. If I armed it manually it was always silent and just flashed, now it does that when it auto-arms too.

No idea about that I'm afraid - mine goes off when i straighten the bike up! It's a pain to get into the config, it took me two weeks before I could be bothered to spend the time out there and try...

yeah, i've got the system 4 and you can alter the sensitivity. The alarm responds to sharp movements, if my chain gently taps the wheel it sets the alarm off, however if i pick the bike up it doesn't go off. (i set it off lastnight putting the chain on!). As far as i know its meant to be like this - as its only set off if someone is using tools to attack a chain/ignition barrel as opposed to the wind setting it off.

how different are the sounds? don't really want to terrorise my neighbours!

oh - and thats why a lot of people get a chain with a center stand, the jolt of dropping it on to the rear wheel causes it to go off

If you think there's a problem it's probably worth going back and asking whatever. It's what warranties are for!
