Default Crash Bungs...not just useful when you drop your bike!

On our way down to Bideford the weekend before last, our mate JT was a victim of the classic 'Smidsy'. A car just pulled out right in front of him. The combined impact speed couldn't have been more than 45mph, but as the following pics show, if he hadn't had crash bungs fitted, and been wearing decent leathers with knee armour, the end result could have been far more serious.

As the above pic shows, the crash bungs were severely bent.
This is why.

The crash bungs took the majority of the impact, but JT's knee suffered a fair amount of damage. His kneecap was broken in two places.

Fortunately, the driver admitted the accident was his fault, and witnesses also told the police that JT hadn't been speeding and wasn't at fault. We're all just glad that the outcome wasn't far more serious, and that the crash bungs did their job!

Actually, I was only saying to JT yesterday that I thought there was a little bit of extra flesh right at the top of the pic

Luckily, his partner Emz can take the kids to school, run round after him, and generally TRY to get him to rest. As the driver of the car is bang to rights he will be claiming for personal injury, plus the fact he lost triple time for yesterday. Will take a long time to sort out, I'm sure, but he has mates to help him out if he needs it.
