I've got an el-cheapo stand but bought bobbins and hooks to make it more secure.

Grip change is dead easy - long thin screwdriver under old grip, release glue all the way round, clean adhesive off bars, refit new grip using grip adhesive.

Agree with above about cheapy stand and bobbins. DO however get an assistant to help you get the bike up on the stand, at least until you have developed a knack to do it single handed. I got away with dropping my sv while trying to get it up(!) the first time. No damage, but only due to luck.

Of course, if money is no object, an abba stand every time.

Or a couple of bits of inch square section mild steel, some 3/4" thick-walled steel tube, some chewing gum, a welder and three pieces of assorted grit sandpaper... and hey presto! A stand.
