Default Supermotos

HAHA, what a hoot...

dropped the SV off for it's first service this morning, as a bike to get me home i was lent a brand new DRZ400SM:

complete with scorpion exhaust. makes the terrible island roads feel like billiard tables with the suspension and the exhaust on the overun pops and crackles beautifully. after getting used to the fact that i need to get on tip toes to touch the floor (flat footed and bent kneed on the SV) and the steering was a bit more lively than i was used to, and that you were looking down on the white vans, oh, and the bars are about 6 inches away and a mile wide, it was great fun. the only downside was the engine when accelerating, or not as the case may be - it was kind of like my turbo diesel car, masses of grunt but all over after a couple of thousand revs and anything over 50mph felt like a hurricane. plus it really did sound like a lawnmower with the throttle open. i tried to spend as little time accelerating and as much time as possible on the overun

it could never replace the SV for me, even with the exhaust, but as a weekend toy, oh yes

Buy a seperate set of wheels and you can enjoy off road biking also. Adding even more fun.

I quite fancy one of those to commute on and for some B road twisty fun. Id get rid of my SV and I think something like that would make a nice companion for the GSXR.

Unforunately my bank balance says no

I still like the look of these, but I'm worried that only 400cc's wouldn't be 'enough' for me

I have been thinking about getting a moto for a while now as my commute is only 13 miles and generally through traffic. The idea of trying a different riding style also appeals. These bikes are lighter than the SV too which would be nice.........Not sure if I could sacrifice the speed of the SV though even though I don't actually use it often.I was going to test drive a Honda FMV 650, but the Suzuki one looks much better. Also how much weather protection do I actually get from the SV, as this is another consideration.

Was torn between the DRZ and the SV as a second bike, short city commutes etc.

SV got it, as like Cloggsy says 30odd bhp and about the same in torque was never going to do it plus I had the missus to consider seat height wise. Its still got a speedo drive off the front wheel so shorter gearing would maybe give it more poke?

Gorgeous looking bike tho'. Out of all the jap "supermoto-lites" its defo the one I would go for. I love the sound of piped singles.

Anyway if i had gone down the razor seat route I would not have "met" you bams
