Default Help my knees

I went out the sarfternoon for a spin and I was wearing Icon Jeans that I got in the states a few weeks back, they are aramid reinforced at the knees but there is no armour in them, I wear knox shorts so my Butt/hips are ok. The problem Is my knees, I bought 661 knee armour see here
http://www.sixsixone.com/Catalog_661...9-98dbc309a729
but they are quite bulky and cause I am tall my knees were having the circulation cut off and the skin was getting pinched, after about 50 miles this was bl**dy sore.

Does anyone know if this will get easy they are brand new or can I get lower profile stuff that wont cause so much crampedness,
or
could I move my pegs so my legs weren't as bent as they are, ie down and back an inch or so???

I have a set of Buell Footpegs on my K5 SVS, it sets them about 3cm lower and a tiny bit further back. It opens the knee very well and when the enormous hero blobs are taken off, there's no ground clearance issues. I'll try and dig out the part number later and pics. Cost was about £20 in 2005 from Harley Manchester.

From looking at them in the photo it seems that you could trim back the lining below the top strap and above the bottom strap. This would open up the gap behind your knee - hopefully meaning that it would pinch less when your knee is bent.

Um - also - I know it sounds like an obvious thing - but don't do them up too tight.
The lower strap should be the one that really holds the pad in position, with the upper strap being slightly looser.
The reason being that there is generally much more variation in the profile of your thigh when flexing your leg than there is in your calf. Therefore a snug fit in one position is far more likely to become restricting when in another (with the leg bent for example).

Do the jeans have pockets for armour at the knees?

Erm, have you tried wearing leathers or textile trousers instead? Some have really good armour and they do stretch a fair bit.

No and as my Ma is sh*t hot at patchwork I asked her if she could put some in but she said she couldn't easily without a machine which would show up stitching on the front

I am going to get leather trousers at some point but cant afford the ones I am looking at just now, I have textiles but I bought 2 pairs of Icon jeans in the states and they go well with my Icon leather jacket, I am a victim of fashion!

Buell pegs; very nearly straight swap, they are a bit wider so need a file taking to them, took me 10 minutes for the first one 'cos constantly re-fitting, checking etc, and 5 for the other. Also, the pivot hole need opening up a bit, from memory, a 12mm HSS drill bit is needed (about £2.50)
