Hiya,
Thought I should introduce myself on here - passed my test about 3 weeks ago and have a lovely K3 faired in silver. I live in Looe, Cornwall, and would be interested in coming on a rideout / meet in my area. The only thing that worries me is that Im a total novice rider - have only ridden on my own, and I take it pretty steady, until my confidence / ability improves - and I have this idea in my head of a rideout looking like a Performance Bikes group test, in which I'll either be left behind after the first 100 yards, or try to do something I can't and fall off. Anyway, if any of you can put up with me, please let me know where you are / go to and I'll try and come along. Ta, Billy. |

Usually on rideouts they put a rider at the back who knows the route. I went on one and wasn't that quick but because i had squirrel hunter behind me who knew where we were (i think) i had plenty of confidence i wouldn't get lost. Best thing to do is to meet up talk about the route and then have a general idea where your going then its down to you how you ride. No one will leave you behind, everyone looks out for each other. Unfortunatly most of the meets end up north of the south if you get me so its alot of travelling to get to any meets.. But on a nice sunny day who cares!!!

I really want to go, cos I want to look at other peoples riding styles and learn how to become a more confident rider - am still having a bit of a problem occasionally running wide in right hand bends - pretty sure its because I'm not looking far enough ahead in a bend. Have been picking up tips from the mags which help, but I don't think there is any substitute for riding along with other people, and them also watching me and offering advice. Hopefully something will happen down here! Ta |

just do it, i did my first rideout with 30 miles on the SV clock, the day after i picked it up, it's much much more fun and easier than you think it's going to be...
just don't go in with the group that loves to rag it silly, like you say you'll be lost in the first 100yrds or you'll crash trying to keep up i have to admit i did look a touch out of place at a spritely 22 years old on the "41 to 81" ride - although there were a couple of people who didn't ride BMWs or ancient BSAs ![]() ![]()

I think I have a decent amount of comon sense and dont think I would be tempted to follow the fast guys - think I would just say s*d it, and go for a burger!!! Just want to have a bit of fun with similar riders, and learn a thing or 2. Heres to hopin'! |

Billy if you haven't found a ride out by mid september the Dorset run,
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=87994 can be your first. Phil in Plymouth says he's coming along, perhaps you could meet up with him. I promise you it won't be a road race, and you will be very welcome. |

Hi mate,
Do yourself a favour and go on a bikesafe with your local bike cops. http://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/...safe/index.htm It will be of benefit and costs you bugger all. You'll also meet other local riders with the same mindset as you. |

No probs. So are you going to do the next one which conveniently for you is from Plymouth 14 or 15th July?
A lot of us have been on these. |
