Just wondering which bike recovery / roadside assist companies you all use and how much you pay for it?
I wouldnt mind getting it just in case .. you just never know, and since I dont know heaps of people in this country or phone numbers for bike shops, I wouldnt know where to start if ever I broke down ![]() |

I'm covered with the AA because of Suzuki Assist (my bike is less than 2 years old). Completely free
I'm also covered by Greenflag because of my bank account (any vehicle I'm in, driver or not). Costs tuppence a month, but comes with lots of extra benefits too. The car is covered on Greenflag too, and that's on a person policy, and covers any vehicle that any person named on the policy happens to be driving. Quite costly for this, but worth it for the car, the bike being covered is just a bonus. I'm also covered from my bike insurance, though I'm not sure who that's with. Paid for this as part of my insurance. HTH. ![]() |

Why is that?
I have AA insurance (yes I know it is just another company and all they did was the legwork for me) .. I wonder if i can get a discount on roadside since I got insurance through them. Was SO much cheaper than any others I could find. Yay AA ![]() |

I've always had cover through my insurance, RAC with the last shower and Carole Nash's own network of locals now. I've only had to use the CN cover once but it was really as good as it gets... fast turnout, no messing about, and they did as I asked and sent a bike trailer first time- I told them it was knackered and they believed me, unlike the RAC who seem to always insist on sending a van first to have a look- very annoying when you know what the problem is. Also, because they delegate direct to local places you don't get the usual farce where they can't find you.
In fairness to the RAC, the patrols have always been fine for me, it's the support network that's diabolical (if anyone else reads Practical Performance Car magazine, last year the RAC refused to accept "The Eiffel Tower" as a location when one of them broke down in France ![]()

Remember the AA (and possibly RAC, etc.) will only recover you on a mechanical breakdown. So, if you have an off or an RTA, you're on your own again.

The RAC came and picked me up after an off, and sent a recovery vehicle without sending a patrol to look first; this was about 2 years ago. The problem with that was a contractor was picking me up telling lots of lies to the RAC "we are in the road and he's not here" etc.
