Default Rider training?

Hi folks, new to the forum, and also new to the SV - Just got my first on Thursday (SV650 K6, bhp 33). Pics coming soon

Before I got this, I rode a Virago 125 - and the difference is just immense. So much that I've decided that I really need some rider training on this thing. I'm very panicky when it comes to corners, probably due to the leaning required as opposed to the XV125.

Does anyone know of any good courses? In this kind of situation, money is no big obstacle - preferably around the Waterford area, although travelling wouldn't be that big a setback.

But er, preferably somewhere that doesn't involve going over the motorway - as I'm only on a provisional at the moment

Cheers,
Eoghan

to start with you should probably look at getting the training to take your test, that's the first basic step. my irish geography isn't so hot but here's a list of some schools:

http://www.bikeireland.ie/training_.htm

and these people might be of some use: http://www.msa-ireland.com/contact.htm

or just searching google for the string "Waterford ireland motorcycle training" gives loads of results.

after you have your full license i'm not sure what restrictions they have in ireland but you could start looking at things like the Institute of Advanced Motorists or doing a Bikesafe course, where the police riders take you out and assess your riding to give you pointers on staying safe, again though; not sure if there are equivelents over there...

have a look at this............

http://www.mondello.ie/Client%20Web%...B2B_Format.htm

MOTORCYCLE SKILLS FOUNDATION COURSE
The foundation skills course is designed to assist riders new to motorcycling or clients who are thinking of becoming motorcyclists.

The course covers the basics of motorcycle riding and is suitable for existing motorcycle owners as well as providing machines for use by complete novices. The course takes place both in the class room and the safe and secure environment of the Mondello Park paddock. Sucessful completion of this course may lead to a reduction of insurance premium from some insurance suppliers.
