Ok, so maybe I don't get it............but how on earth can a toy be worth that sort of money? It just strikes me as being a bit obscene, if I'm honest. I mean, I collect things..............books, sheep, dragons.................but I would never contemplate paying that sort of money for a bit of plastic. Is there anyone here who is a serious collector and would pay big bucks for an item, or do you think as I do?

I'm not surprised.
The biker scout was a pretty good figure- as was the speeder bike. Ah- the memories... |

I kind of expected this to be worth more...
![]() I suppose some people will pay daft money for these things. It always strikes me as a little sad that these toys were never played with though, they've just been sat in their packaging all this time. My transformers were in a much worse condition by the time my mum gave them away... |

Buzz Lightyear sat in it's box still. SOMEWHERE! I bet the wife had thrown the thing out. Not that it will ever me worh anything big thanks to shows like Cash in the Attic.
What sort of Dragons Liisa? The cute little ones, or the full on kick ass ones! My mates wife collected the full on kick ass ones, with Crystals in them ,etc.. Don;t thin I ever saw her, or him, dust the buggers! LOL |

I got my brother a boxed but opened G1 Optimus Prime for £30 last year, that was a good buy I thought, the reissues have brought the prices down.
I suppose that if you have every other star wars figure in its cards, then that price isn't for one figure, it's for a complete set. I had that one, and his bike as well, still got them all in fact... I saw a top panel off a Millenium Falcon sell for £15, I've got the whole thing under the bed, hmm... I remember when the star wars toys fell out of fashion you could buy them for peanuts from john menzies, should've invested ![]() I'm a terrible collector of things, but I'd draw my line well before that (I once paid £40 for a playing card though, back when I did CCGs, and it made me feel sick to my stomach...) Very nearly paid £90 for a CD single last year too, when I got my bonus, but I managed to resist. Wish I hadn't, it'd be worth £300 now...

My other half collects star wars toys...he's not bothered about them being in mint condition in unopened packets tho but still, some of the variations of the early figures can be rare so are worth a lot to collectors. He's probably paid about 100 GBP at the most for a figure (that's what he's told me anyway). Thing is with collecting things like star wars toys, transformers etc. etc. it's not just about collecting bits of plastic...it's a nostalgia thing too. You can never get your childhood back but it's nice to have reminders of how things were when you were little. That's why Transformers will probably appeal more to people around 30 than kids
