Exclamation Idling High (4000rpm) once warm

Facts:
-Rough idle starting cold
-long choke time when starting
-once riding a while, idle goes to ~4000 and wavers
Ideas??

So Here's the situation. I have a 2001 SV650S with only 800miles on it. The bike is immaculate in condition. Have only had it a few weeks now and its my first bike (yes, I took a safety class to learn).

Here's the problem. When I start it up from cold, I have to let it idle for a long time, I'm talkin about 10 minutes to my step bro's 4-5min on his 05 R6. Even after this ten minutes it doesn't like to idle if I cut the choke to nothing.

Once I hop on and am riding it feels fine, however the real issue I'm having comes when I have been riding anywhere from 15 min(if I've been stabbing a bit) to 25 min (if I've just been cruising) the idle starts sitting at about 4000 at stop signs and lights.

When it is idling high it is idling rough, going from idling at 4300 one second to dropping to 3900, and back up to 4000 the next.

I've tried turning the idle down lower, but I think that might have something to do with the idle initial idle issues. I've also checked the air filter and it looks brand new. Did the oil just a week ago too...

So I was hoping someone might be my saving grace and help me figure out how the hell a bike with such low mileage could/would have these kinds of issues?? I'm at a loss!

Search on "choke cables"

My guess is the choke cables are sticking, causing the idle hang-up and rough running. Usually right up where the cables go into the carbs, but can be around the splitter too.

Also, a 2001 bike with 800mls on it? I'd want to clean out the carbs, or at least use a good dose of cleaner additive in the fuel, there's bound to be deposits in there from all that inactivity! It would explain why it won't run properly off choke. Back to basics I'm afraid.

Obviously also check throttle cables and mechanism under the tank aren't sticking or catching anywhere.

Thats what I'd wager on it being to, my bike ran exactly like that when the choke plungers were seized in the carb bodies...

Dont worry as long as you can undo the screws the hold the plungers in, its easy to sort out.

Dizzyblondes did take 2 doses of freeze spray, a 2 hour soaking in penetrant oil and in the end up an impact driver and a big hammer to get the front one out.
They can sieze quite solid, make sure you don't strip/snap the screws as this will mean knackered carbs.
