Following on from another thread here is one to vent your anger
Recently it has been announced that they are seriously thinking about giving new drivers limit's eg. can take a passenger to show off you sh*t driving & limits on what type of car you can have - basically to stop them from wrapping themselves and their mates round the nearest tree or lampost. (a 21 year old at my work killed them selves by trying to drive a car up a lampost whilst drunk - leaving his girlfriend who works in the same building and grieving family) Is it just me getting old or are people really this selfish? One of my gripes just now are people who listen to their ipod whilst driving! how the hell are they going to hear someones horn or be concentrating enough? Vent away!

Hey, I listen to my iPod whilst driving... though it's connected through my car stereo thanks to £4 of techno-white-plastic n wire from eBay.

i think they should limit new car drivers. Its not whats left behind but also those that have to clear up after it. If we can slow them down that great. It'll give them more chance for cheaper insurance more NCB and if was backed up woth every council offering subsidsed Pass Plus scheme and simulator training it would be more worth while

Seems a pretty sound and reasoned decision, same as the rumour about raising the minimum driving age.

If young bikers have to be restricted to 33BHP, why not restrict 17-21 yr old car drivers to 1.4 or less??

![]() can't really put all 1st time drivers / riders into the petrol head category but i know that practically 90% of them are, i think that everyone should have to start on bikes 1st as you learn quicker and the hard way |

Suppose the trouble is figuring out whether younger drivers have more accidents because they're inexperienced or because they're full of hormones and think they're invulnerable. I guess the answer is "a bit of both". I certainly remember driving around like a scandinavian rally driver when I passed - and that was in a Citroen 2CV - that had a smaller engine than the SV for gods sake, and I was still a liability. So I'm not sure power or engine size limits would work too well for cars, I'd think a neon Corsa 1.1 with superglued cosworth spoiler and blue LEDs is far more likely to be involved in an accident than a bog standard 1.6 Focus for example.

I see plently of people in their 20s driving like knobs when they're in the car on their own during the day. I can't see how raising the driving limit age by a few years is going to improve anything. Drink driving is on the rise amongst younger drivers. This indicates to me above all an attitude problem caused by widers social issues (namely lack of responsibility). Seems like we're getting the governments usual response to a problem, "TREAT THE SYMPTOM NOT THE CAUSE, PRETEND WE'RE DOING SOMETHING, BAN IT!". This will most likely achieve the square root of f**k all in reducing road casualties. The only result of this I can see will be alot of ****ed off teenagers.
