Default Making your own dogbones?

Been looking at rasing the height of my Z750 and the adjusting the dogbones looks like the easyist solution. I have a Hyperpro shock but their dogbones that raise the height by 25mm are £105 which sound a lot for two bits of sheet steel.

I work for a manufactuing company and if I ask nicly I might be able to get access to some of the machines. Can anyone see any problems, I take it normal steel would work fine, not sure about how to finish it though.

Does anyone know any manufactures who are likely to make one for my bike?

Sorry just re-read another post that Rictus has done which has answered most of the questions already.

Ummm someone posted up on this form about home-made dog bones failing after a while. Then there was an argument over the quality of the metal used. Can't find the thread, but it sounds well dodgy to me IMHO.

There's plenty of companies on Ebay selling dogbones, why not try one of them?

Cheers Mark.

I made mine out of MDF.

I agree that that sounds well expensive from Hyperpro though, is there anything particularily clever about them? Try Maxton, they make lovely anodised ones and IIRC for the SV they're only about £50. Which is still expensive.

I think it was Lozzo if that helps...I was wondering about the quality of the ebay ones at the time and he posted some pics to show what happens when they fail...best to go for the real deal imo.

You'd need to make sure you selected the right grade for the job I guess...

Yes you do!. I have seen them fail and it makes a bit of a mess. I have never understood why people scrimp on parts that could affect safety. Just dont do it..we want you alive!!

Maxton are very helpful. Use theirs if you can.

Failing that explore what grade you need. If you work in a manufactering company that deals with metals it shouldnt be too hard to find out.
