Default Taking off stock system. How??

Tried to take off my stock exhaust, well thats a lie as I've got an ART can so that was already detached. Undid the front pipe nuts, actually the studs came too, and undid the clamp around the rear pipe. Undid the two mounting bolts mid system, but would it budge???? So do I need to loosen the bolt that joins the front pipe to the rest and take off the front pipe first. If so The Haynes thingy lied or am I doing it wrong???

Any pointers guys and gals?

Cheers, Pete

Top tip, soak all the joints in wd40 several times over 24 hours. It will then almost fall off

Bolt on Can, Bolt this side by collector, bolt other side by stand, then the 2 front bolts on the cylinder, wiggle and it should drop off.

Wow! Nice quick response.

Thank you.

But Viney you don't mention the clamp bolt on the rear pipe. So the system will come off as one piece? Both downpipes still connected. I wonder if removing the can first lessened my leverage ability.

Once I got mine original can off I made the informed, unpressured (stressed to hell and back), calm (oooh no, much screaming was to be heard...) and quiet (... and loud swearing too) decision to NEVER EVER TOUCH IT AGAIN!

I just undid all the bolts i could find, then beat the hell out of it. Seemed to work. With the full system I've got, it's tight as anything, the only way I can get it off is to undo the bolts, remove the front studs, then step on the pipework and bounce up and down

You've become very agressive Northwind! I see a pattern developing here. On the other post you had some similar tactics to remove the stem bearings... tse tse tse
