Default 180 rear on a pointy?

Well i've been searching and i know you can put a bandit1200 wheel on the curvy easy enough but what about the pointy? Is there an easy swap or is it abit of a job? I've also seen an SV1000 rear swingarm on the 650 but can't remember whos bike it was. How easy would that be?

Cheers for any help!!!

Are you feeling inadequate?

Excellent, carry on

Blue just shoved a 180 on to his standard wheel IIRC

Yeah, I put a 180 macadam on my stock curvy rim. many people will tell you its not a good idea and argue the case until blue in the face even though they have no actual data/rationale as to why!!

I'm not going to stick my head out and say its totally unreasonable fears, but I ran a 180 on the back of mine for a ages with no problems ... I suggest you make up your own mind on this one!! But I can say it is possible and I did it without any problems

Can I ask how much of it you manage to use, or in other words - how big are the chicken strips???? I know you are an experienced track rider and am sure you will have "made the most of this tyre", but as I have bought quite a few second hand Supercorsa 160's not scrubbed to the edges when used on the stock 4.5 inch rim and can only imagine putting a 180 on makes it worse. Having said that, I have noticed that touring tyres have (in general) a less severe profile than sports tyres!

Freaking MASSIVE!! ... but then I only commuted on it, so even the 160 would have big strips You can see the strips quite clearly here ... you can also see why the tyre is no longer in use

These are the 'strops on a 170 remould I put on there once too ...

Would that be a bolt for the blue?

Coat.

I was looking at maybe a 170 rear. Did the larger tyre affect the handling in any noticable way and was it better or worse in your opinion? I've dropped my forks about 10mm and like the quick turning feel. Didn't know if its likely to affect it much?
