Oil leaking from water pump drain hose

okay I have had a look thru many a thread relating to the water pump seals etc, but they don’t cover exactly my problem, which is as follows.

I have a SV650S 2003 (K3) and a month ago I noticed small amount of coolant coming from the drain (“breather”) pipe of the water pump. As I use my bike to and from work every day (15min of fun each way or 1.5hr on public transport, easy choice!) I wanted to fix it ASAP. So bought all the water pump seals, including the oil and mechanical water seal and after 3hrs did the fix and changed the oil and coolant while at it.

Next day I was not too over joyed to find that the coolant leak had been replaced by an oil leak, worse, much worse.

For oil to be leaking from the water pump drain pipe it can only be the oil seal on the pump shaft, as far as I understand. Am I correct?
