Guys n' Girls.
I'm looking at purchasing a SV Curvy as my budget dictates this, and I have come across 52 plate model, but the dealer informs me this is an import model. My question is what's the difference with import models? and should I stay well clear of these. Also, what tell tale signs should I be looking for on a Curvy model, in order not to get any frightening suprises. Thanks in advance. |

Is it nakid or faired, not that it makes much difference. But, the headlights will point in the wrong direction.
Startrek Steve didn't know about it on his bike til i pointed it out. Also they have a dipped beam which is a Ducati style single spot (on the faired )

The europeans ride on the opposite side of the road, so the light points the opposite to what it should over here. AFAIK its an mot failure too, but not sure.
You can buy headlights of the UK variety pretty easy on fleabay Unless of course, the bikes already been fitted with UK spec lights, when it was imported

slloyd, my bikes a french version so its got left hand headlamps. They look better than the UK lights and you dont really notice they point the wrong way.
It will fail an MOT, nut you just put some tape over the left lens to block the light from shining to the right. It will then pass. Also it probably won't have carb heaters, although by all accounts they are poo anyway. Might be wise just to check if its got a kph speedo though. |

Ive got an import(naked)and it has KPH speedo and the headlamp dips the wrong way.No problems over the last seven years with it,but you should pay at least 10% less for it.I doubt the dealer will agree.

If it's an import and it's still got the overseas headlight unit it may well look like this
![]() A projector type light in the right hand side. Our first curvy was like that and never had any problems with MOTs. Also it may not have carb heaters, but as the UK ones can be pants that's not much of a problem. I would defo want a Uk speedo though. Hard to read the dial with those little sticky on numbers, especially at night. |
