Default 1 week,2 drops

As it says in the title,I have had my bike for 1 week after passing my test and I have dropped it twice.1St time was stupid turned into my garage and lost balance.Yesterday a pedestrian crossed the road without looking and I grabbed a fist of front brake and thus bike on its side.Broken brake lever, bent bar end and broken indicator and scratches on fairing.(stupid thing is is i have crash bobbins in the garage waiting to be fitted)

How long did it take you guys to get used to the sv from a 125,my 125 was a very upright riding position, the sv is quiet sporty so not sure if im just learning how to handle it.Should I just take the fairings off. What should I do to get used to the handling more is it a matter of just getting out on country roads.

Weight and balence -> Practice & muscles....

and remembering to put feet down when stationary....

You could take the lowers off if you think you've not got over dumping it on the ground.
Recon you'll soon get used to it.

(The bike that is - not picking it up)

Experience is everything, keep going! I dropped mine on day 1 and again not long after

In hindsight it was a blessing, taught me very quickly how aware and focussed i needed to be and how easily the bike can get away from me. You're not hurt and thats the most important thing so repair the damage to the bike, put it down as a valuable lesson, learn from it and get back on the roads a little wiser, and dont let it ruin your enjoyment xx

The only way your going to get the experience needed to be familiar with your bike and it's handling and weight is to ride it.

Sorry about your two drops but I'm guessing that's two lessons you have learnt already.

Every cloud...

Bike can be repaired its my ego that took a bit of a knock.I was very lucky I had a police biker behind me who helped me move bike to side of the road and even took my bent barend off for me.

try kicking your own bike over on the elevated section of the A40 and having to wait for a passing motorist to stop and help you pick it up again...

it takes a fair while to get used to the weight of the bike, had that problem with my bike before the sv, because i came from a 50cc did my test (2 lessons) and straight on to my 660cc i stuck to open roads for a while before venturing in to town's so had gotten used to the weight and feel of the bike before taking it in to kamikaze land (town) then when i did venture in i had a good feel for what the bike wanted to do, and how it reacts to certain things like road condition
