Default 1st service price

Hi all,
Just thought that i would share this with you all.
Got my SV serviced on tuesday at CJ Ball in Hales.
First service(600 miles) cost 90.97.

My wife got here Er6f first service done at Orwells in Ipswich today.
Price 26.03

Both bikes went back to the Dealer where they were bought.
I was suprised at how cheap that was.
Anyone else found this kind of variation between dealers at first service time? Maybe its something to haggle on if anyone is buying sometime soon Thats all!

Hey gsak,

One of my friends bought a 58 plate zx6r off someone who's business had just gone bust. Only had 60 odd miles on it but the owner needed the money asap so sold it on for 4.5k!
IIRC his first service, also 600 miles, at seastar was only about £25!

My sv is due for a service as soon as I pass my test and I was considering phoning C J Balls and getting them to do it as it's main dealer, but I somehow think I'd be dissapointed with the price they're going to give me if they're charging that just for the first one.
Think I may give London Road Inc a call in Lowestoft!

I paid about £56 for my 600rr first service, which was 'free' except for parts.

My SV first service was £86, I was technically the second owner so it wasnt free.

I think they flip coins when deciding pricing to be honest. They get oil and filters for pennies and thats the only part cost from the first service, they have to wack their premium on though.

prob has a lot to do with the time its takes to get to the front plug on the SV. I imagine the other bikes you've mentioned its a little simpler.

total speculation mind but it would explain the extra £50 bump compeared to the other bikes listed.

Bikes comes with different (mineral) oil in for the first 600miles to help with oil circulation on intial start up during the bedding in period. After 600 miles they get normal semi synthetic.

Plugs arn't specified to be checked on any 600 miles service schedule I have ever seen.

The price difference will likely be in the oil quantity and quality pricing. Some places probably use tesco value oil at £4 for 5 litres, other place will use Castrol and £4289 for 5 litres.

no, no plugs on first service, just oil, filter and general nut and fastener check.

seems daft not to, maybe its just me but while you've got the gubbins off I take every oportunity to stick fresh plugs in now (considering events past) for 2x£2 items again, it seems daft not to. Personal choice I guess.

Unless you haggled hard on purchase, the first service should have been free!
