Default Filtering Fun

I went out for a little blast on my bike today and foolishly headed home via St Andrews just after the Golf Open Championship had finished with thousands of people heading home.Traffic was gridlocked with the police doing their best to keep things flowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I have very little experience of filtering as I don't commute and very seldom am i out and about in town with lots of traffic.

I decided that rather than sit in the traffic i'd try to make my way safely past the stop start traffic. I was making good progress but noticed in my mirror a police bike doing the same coming up behind me. I did think that he may not have been impressed at some of my moves and was a little bit worried as there was quite a few police bikes around the town. I moved over just in case he was going passed and thankfully he did. So i decided to sit behind him as the trafic was moving aside in both directions to let him past, although he did not have his lights and sirens on.

Unfortunately he pulled over half way along the road but i had managed to go a good few miles and was grinning to myself all the way home.

That aint half bad is it.

Out of interest, did you pick up anything from the way the police biker was filtering, etc? Most of my riding is Central London, I'm always filtering.

No mate I didn't as it was all very slow and there was lots of buses on the road so it was very much stop start for him too. I just looked ahead past him and when he went if there was time and space I went too.

Nice one matey.

Unfortunately the excellent(?) job the cops were doing directing traffic didn't extend as far as Cupar. Over 1 hour to get through there in the cage.
