Just wondering whether it's worth the hastle. I have an SV650S (curvey) and I'm going to have to sell it soon, but the bike has one or two issues that can be quite easily sorted, and it has run fine everyday since i've had it.
However I feel I wouldn't get much more than £1k for it. Only problems are scratches on the fairings, needs a new throttle cable, and the undertray is a bit dodgy but have a spare. Also the kill switch in the clutch has broken and been bypassed, which I think its actually better. The Bike: - Two fairly new Pilot Road 2's (tons of tread left) - Givi Box 47ltr (less than 6months old) - Half decent end can (Sounds lovely) - 16,000 miles - Starts first time every time without fail - Stored in garage ever since i've had it. So people of SV650.org what do you think I should do? Break the bike and sell everything individually or sell the bike as it is. Here's a picture of the bike |

That'd be a race bike under the "mini-twins" regulations.

Breaking can be a bit of a pain. I'm still in the process of getting rid of all the bits off a DT125 and I broke that up about a year ago! Ebay buyers can be a nightmare and you get stiffed on stuff, relisting and keeping track. If you can sell it on in one piece I'd definately say do that. Obviously, if you're diligent about it you can make a bit more breaking it up but the frame, swingarm and engine of my old DT are still sat int he back garden!

Someone'll almost certainly take it off you to build a race bike. Strip the fairings off, lights, sidestand and all the other road gubbins and use it on track. There's a specific class called minitwins

Let whoever buys it do the work. They will be wanting to do work on it anyway since there are other requirements over and above removing lights etc. Garry |

Yeah, sorry. I was being a little brief with exactly what it takes to build a minitwin bike. Here's a great link to exactly what needs doing: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=153136
It's a lot of work and as indy says, they'll prob want to do it themselves. You'd get more cash for it probably if you did break it up, my only point was that it can be a pain in the ar$e and the return is a lot slower. If you just flog it and maybe advertise it as a mintwin project you'll get less but it's a lot less hassle and more immediate. Looking at the pic, it might be worth doing a half way house - strip off the rear hugger, givi box, lowers and maybe the can if you have the orignal too - sell those and make a tidy £100+, then flog the rest as one.
