Default wet plug syndrome

saw this on svrider.com - what do think of this as an alternative to a fender extender?

Is one really necessary for your bike? Just wondering considering your location.

funny you should say that - but when it rains, boy does it rain - comes down in truckloads. My son was caught out a while ago on his Rieju 50 and it was not a pretty

Is it actually effective against wet plug syndrome? I've read many a forum post concerning running on one cylinder.

the one I've referred to from svrider.com looks as though it's fashioned from steel or aluminium and the poster was very positive about it's effect......

I made the connection because many people hate the look of the fender extender. The plate can obviously be treated with engine paint to match the bike.

I would still protect the plug with dielectric grease or similar though.

Yep, my old curvy refused to start on both cylinders after being left in the rain for 2 days.
