Does salt have a nasty effect on leather? As in road rock salt. I put some on the drive yesterday while wearing my bike gloves... it's not the first time I've got salt on 'em and I don't think it's had any effect but thought I'd check?

Why did you put salt on your drive?
It is baking over here on the nice side of the hill, we have spent the day in the garden.

It'll react if they were wet and gradually rot if its prolonged exposure.
Give them a once over with a wet'ish bit of kitchen roll and should be alright

Oh I thought you must have a problem with slugs.
Or is it just to keep YC under control?

salt + leather = BAD. salt has a nasty habit of sucking any moisture out of things.
give the gloves a once over with a damp sponge then get some Nivea cream on them. |

i gave chris a pot of renapour wax ages ago (but its like 5 years supply) rinse them off, dry and get some of that on. I leave it off the fingers though. dont buff it up either just rub it on and wipe off. tis the best stuff for keeping it supple. However it does make it shiny.
i now have a dry crotch in my leathers due to salt i think. that and icecream and coffee |
