Hey there everyone!
I am the lucky winner of a 4 month suspension (long story short, 2 years ago I was caught doing 70 in a 40 zone), so I'll have to postpone the plans to buy an AWESOME Triumph Tiger 1050 and buy a not some awesome, but still fun (I hope) 50cc bike, which is the ONLY thing that I'm allowed to drive while suspended. This is not as bad as it sounds, because, first of all, there are quite a few 2-strokes available: Aprilia RS 50, RX 50, Derbi GPR 50, Senda 50 Yamaha TZR 50 and so on. First, I've set my eyes on a senda 50, because I'm looking for comfort and don't really think that the tzr/gpr/rs will allow me to stretch my legs properly (I'm 5'11'', with a normal build). I can't really find any RX 50s available, so the Senda is all that's left. I know that no 50cc bike is going to be reliable, so I'm ready for that. Is there anything that you advise against? Secondly, I do want to go for big bore kits (malossi cylinder), which would bring me to about 80-90cc. On a 2stroke, that's 160-180cc on a 4stroke and brings the power to about 16hp at the wheel with a good spread of "power". Thirdly, if I go for the malossi cylinder, will I be able to fit a turbo? I'm thinking that maybe I could get about 25hp at the wheel and that would really make me happy and above all, ignorant to the ban ![]() I have some money to spare (I was saving for the tiger) and doing the math shows that I will actually be saving money over the 4 months by buying a 50cc. Soo... what would you guys recommend (other than not getting busted by the cops again ![]() |

what a nice place you live. A ban here means nothing but public transport, legs or a cycle.

@sebulba: Of course I did!!
![]() @timwilky: Well, the upside of having a badly screwed up political system is that you can always find some little holes to worm your way through. The bad side is that the screwed up laws got me in this mess in the first place. I was planning on getting quite a bit out of the little bugger before it dies... And it's actually going to be worth money-wise, which is funny, because usually these sort of situations mean that you have to live harsh for some time ![]() |

I was hoping that is was a joke... I just don't want to see you with bits of the turbo/engine in your bits.
At least if you're adding a turbo, make it a BIG one, from an Evo or something ![]() |

Why bother... Buy the Tiger and for the 4 months until you could get back on a "real" bike a scooter/bicycle/feet would be sufficient for getting around.

I was hoping to stay out, but apparently, I'm a very desired person in some circles
![]() @MattCollins : Well, I need the licence to go get the Tiger (I have to drive a van to another country, 'cause there are none close to me), so I do have to put off the tiger purchase... The 49cc bike actually is a moped, according to the laws of Romania, so I am going to drive a scooter according to the law |

The point of suggesting a scooter, by which I mean something really cheap both to buy and maintain, not some sort of miniature replica was so that you're not dipping into the Tiger fund too deep.
As for driving the van... You don't have a friend, girlfriend or wife who can help you? Last edited by MattCollins; 06-02-12 at 06:48 PM. Reason: stupid spelling mistake |
