Default How much would you pay for this bike?

I just wanted to get an input from you experienced guys on how much would you roughly pay for this bike.

http://muskegon.craigslist.org/mcy/4357555648.html

1700 in British Pounds for the UK folks out there.

Haven't we seen that one on here from someone else recently? Have a search through recent threads mate, might find most of you questions already answered.

Thought so, and was you that posted it!

I think the issue was why replace the engine after 12k. The story that he had another engine with only 6k on it wouldn't wash with me, you don't replace a perfectly good engine with only 12k on it!

I replaced an engine with one that has 15k on it. I had a legit reason though

Swapping an engine at 12k with no reason would make me question their logic.

You guys have a valid Point, especially Red.

I am too conerned about the engine swap, but as Long as it wasn't coooped together and runs fine I would still consider buying it. HOWEVER, i am still on edge and sadly desperate for a SV for the reason there isn't many where i live.

Don't be completely put off by the engine swop, just be on your guard. The story doesn't sound right so I wouldn't necessarily believe anything else I was told by the seller. This doesn't matter if you know what you are looking for with the bike, so if you're not confident in your own judgement then take someone else along to look at it who is. If you don't have a mate with the necessary knowledge consider getting an expert opinion, if you're spending £1,700 on a bike an extra £100 for peace of mind is worth it. Sometimes armed with the knowledge they may give you you can get the price reduced by more than you paid for the examination.

So was cheaper than a rebuild?
But as Matt said it's a valid reason to change the motor

Weathering of the tyres?! what is he talking about. I would be wary, but dont let it put you off. Check it all lines up and looks good in the frame and that everything looks as expected. And obviously that it runs as expected. Ask the reason for the new engine - his reaction will probably determine how genuine he is.
