Default Ebay help

Bought a second hand can off evilbay. The pictures included in the advert only showed the inside side of the exhaust (tyre side), I messaged the seller before bidding and asked what condition it's in and could I have a picture of the face side, He replied with "that is the face side" and that was all. IT was quite clear that it wasn't, but I thought there might be a possibility that this guy isn't a bike (listing title was wrong) so may not know which is the face side and I'm covered by eBay if the ad is wrong so I took a punt with a low bid.

Anyway, won it for £31 quid, It arrived yesterday and unsurprisingly the face side had gravel rash . So I open an eBay case, I selected "item does not match description" and eBay have requested a return from the seller. The only major damage is only to the rivet straps which I can replace and the rest of the damage I can buff out on the wheel, So I messaged him this morning basically saying that if he sent me a partial refund I'd stop the eBay case. He hasn't replied to me or the eBay case.

If he doesn't respond by the 13th I can involve eBay and get it sorted. But what will happen? If I get my money back will I have to return the can? I already have rivet strap hanging around so all the repair is going to cost me is time. Can i tell eBay that I want a partial refund rather than a total return?

Wait it out. You will probably end up with a full refund and a can if eBay get involved.

Yes you can choose options when opening up a dispute of full or partial refund. You can also get the buyer to pay for the return too.

EBay will look highly in your favour as the seller hasn't bothered to reply.

Bouhgt some speakers off flabby earlier this year. Didn't work put in complaint, got money back and kept speakers. Turns out the two pin to three pin plug didn't work. Tried them on shaving plug and worked perfectly. They didn't ask for the item to be returned. Win, win for me. I had every intention in returning the item. but they didn't ask for them back.

Depends if you want to keep the can our not. If your aren't really bothered, take the risk and ask for a full refund. If you want to keep the can and repair it, then a partial refund
