Default Busted indicator relay & temporary fix - advice

My indicator relay decided it was going to break yesterday. When I bought the bike it had led signals on so I assumed replacing them with new led signals would be fine. However, when I removed the 7 pin relay I was greeted with a rattling sound which was caused by this: https://i.imgur.com/LJ4S7Fb.jpg

So, after some swearing I came up with what I figured would be a good temporary fix. Bit of soldering and I put this together: https://i.imgur.com/J2NRpe5.jpg

Does anyone know if this is ultimately going to cause any lasting damage? Seems to be working fine now...

Cheers

Ben

If it works it works. I'd get some epoxy around it though, otherwise it'll corrode to hell in no time.
Or shorten the cables so you can get it all back in the housing (if you've not completely destroyed it getting it apart)

Thanks, I'd not considered epoxy but that's a good call. It's currently taped up good and proper

If the device that was broken off was not secured down for heatsinking or electrical connection reasons before you took it apart, it should be OK now. I was an electronics engineer and I would have done something similar if it were mine.

Thanks Blapper. Seems to be doing the trick for now and the £9 replacement off ebay is in the post.
