Did my first trackday at Mallory today, WoW it was ace,
Got up at 4AM and had the bike in the vans for 5.15am, then all for of us were on our way. There was me on the SV650SK3, a guy on a zx-6r another on a zx-10r and finally an R1. We got to mallory park around 7.15 and had checked in, as it was my first trackday i booked myself in the novice group. so i was first out on track, 2 laps at 30 mph and then a few at legalish road speeds. The next session was more or less a free-for-all. I got my right knee down in the third session and every lap there after. I even got my right peg down on the chicane and hairpin! There was only 3 left hand bends so no real chance of any show boating there! lol. On the very long sweeping bend called gerrards i was taking it at 75mph, by the end of the day i was seeing just over 100mph round it. it was such a long sweeping bend that i did have chance to have a glance at the speedo! In the second session after lunch i was feeling a bit too confidant and was doing 1.05s which aint too far off real race times. gonig round the hairpin a bit fast saw me not only touching the peg down buy i tap puched the brake lever down aswell, the rear wheel came off the floor for a split second, and luckily i kept on the thing. Although i was very cautious through that bend from there on!!! We are gonna try to get another day booked for this year before the winter kicks in, hopefully at croft, but in the intermediate group. There was another SV there aswell, a black curvey. Also a naked sv1000 in the fast group, and he was at the front aswell!!! I will put the pics up soon, im a bit tired now and cannot be bothered waiting to upload them SPeeeeDY |

Congrats, i want to do one next year on the sv. 1:05 close to racetimes? the WSB record is something like 52 seconds, unless you gave the racer a dead leg, you'd be way off lol.

When i said real race times, i was meaning amature racing, they lap just under 1 minute so 5 second slower on a virtually standard SV aint too bad i dont think.
But doing a trackday is a must for any biker! I see from your signature that you are restricted, you will need to check that the track you want to ride allows 33bhp restricted licences, big tracks such as donnington and cadwell wont allow me to ride, only little ones sunch as croft and mallory allow me SPeeeeDY |
