They ride on the right hand side of the road. Keep saying it to yourself. It's very easy to forget that when you are doing left hand turns particularly.

Make sure you have proper 'bikers' insurance - most of the cheap online policies exclude riding a bike

Advice
  • Remember that the speed limit signs are in km/h not mph
Check your exhaust for illegal immigrants on the way back.
    Ride safe and return safe

Have a good trip

If a car lets you past seems the done thing is to lift your right leg in appreciation. Took my car over to France last month and couldn't work out why I kept getting bikers shaking legs at me to start with, but worked out that no point them waving their left hand.

On dual carriageways don't be flashing your lights if someone is indicating to change lanes and you are giving them space to do so. We flash to say "Go on then" whereas in France a flash means "Feck off out of the way".

Unless you are in a hurry don't bother with the Autoroute, for touring the route national are generally a lot nicer and still good quality.

Everywhere is closed on a Sunday, don't leave your shopping till then.

But sure, you've gone already.....
