Default Before you next filter through think about this!

I have never thought about this before today and I made a right idiot of myself!

After having my bike serviced today I was in a bit of a rush to get home. I came accross a lot of slow moving trafic a couple of miles from home just before coming from the country lanes into town. I knew that in this area there had been loads of road works for a while but its not a road that I often use. The trafic was stopping and starting or very slow for a fair distance. I had a look and noticed it was safe to filter through. So I did steady as normal leaving the trafic plenty of room. Steady away I got round most of the trafic and noticed a decent sized gap ahead of the next batch of cars. Then I noticed the last few cars in front of me were funeral cars! I had only gone and filtered through a funeral procession!

What a fool I am! I felt a right idiot and its totally against my normal nature! I normally slow right down and give way to a funeral procession (the local crem is on my daily drive).

My appologies and respect to the family and friends of the poor person who has sadly passed away.

I am sharing this story on here so no one else makes the same stupid mistake!

Lets hope the departed didn't meet his end in a motorcycle accident otherwise you definitely won't be flavour of the month!

Personally I hate funerals and going in the procession etc and am always glad just to get it over with so I wouldnt worry about someone filtering past on a bike.

Reminds me of the time at my rugby club. In the bar waiting for an international match to start, couldn't hear the TV so I shout across the bar to get the barmaid to turn the volume up. It was a 2 minutes silence!!!!

Im sorry but why is it bad to overtake a funeral procession on a bike?

The crematorium is on the A20 near here and if I didnt overtake it would take ages to do 5 miles. Sorry, as much respect as I have for a funeral procession, it doesnt warrant following at 20mph for those 5 miles.

Lynw, you know you're not sorry really I think some people might find it respectful, others don't! Bit different on a dual carriage way or a long journey but most I'd imagine are short journeys

I want to take my last ride with these folks

http://www.motorcyclefunerals.com/

I don't think the 'Busa should hold the traffic up too much.

Car drivers who don't ride rarely like being overtaken by bikes anyway, they'll either ignore you or think bad thoughts that they would have done procession or no procession. Car drivers who do ride will totally understand. And how were you to know?
