Default SV650S K1 Engine Paint

Just to let everyone who may be interested know that I have found that the mid grey engine paint on my 2001 bike can be touched up very well with PlastiKote water based enamel reference B52 PEWTER which is a very good match.

This paint can be bought for about a fiver for a small pot off eBay, applies easily with a small watercolour brush, dries in about 20 minutes and can be recoated easily if necessary to build up the metallic finish and depth of the original.

The paint seems very hardwearing as I repainted the gold inner section of my front disc brakes (rotors?) with the same range when I first got the bike 18 months ago to overcome the rust that was spotting on the surface and they still look like new after use and washing.

Any chance of a photo of your engine paint touch up? Thanks.

Sorry Ned. Can't do photos as I've just part exchanged the bike for a Thruxton. The wear on mine was mainly from road muck being thrown up by the front wheel. After washing the bike as normal I just prepped the areas by wiping over with a cloth and brake cleaner and then applied the paint. Best to go with minimal thickness on each coat but 2 applications was fine on mine straight onto the bare casing areas. Blended in well with the existing finish as well.
