Security chain thickness
Hi,
Can someone help me? I ordered a new lock and chain and the description of the chain states it is a 12 mm thickness square link. Now I've got it and the link measures only 8 mm thickness across the flat edge. I'm i supposed to be measuring diagonally across the link or have i been sent the wrong one? Thank, Rob. |

Re: Security chain thickness
8mm on the square will measure 12mm on the diagonal.
there is only one chain on the market that is worth its salt and that is Almax. the weakest link in any chain is the padlock. BTW, scumbags have found a way of getting very very good bolt cutters that will cut through anything but i'm not saying how on an open forum. |

Re: Security chain thickness
Description says 12 mm square section chain, not 12 mm diagonal. I've queried it with the seller, awaiting response. I've attached a picture, see what you think.

Re: Security chain thickness
Square refers to the shape/profile of the chain I think

Re: Security chain thickness
They'll be measuring it across the chains thickest point, i.e. the diagonal of the square section which will be at least 12mm, no doubt.

Not a lot of point in worrying a pair of bolt croppers will have it off before you can sneeze either way.

Re: Security chain thickness
Hi man
I thinks it's menna be 12mm from the widest part like if you had a circular linked chain the thickness would be measured from the widest parts of the link if that makes Sence so maybe it is diagonally, Does the company you bought the chain of sell 8mm ones two because of so then maybe you've been sent one of them by mistake Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
