Need a bit of help please...
Hello oh mighty Org.
It is with mixed emotions that I write this thread so please bear with me. I have been more of a lurker lately than a poster, but it was absolutely fab to catch up with some of you at the AR this year. Anyway...this forum has been like an extended family to Dan and me and we have made some amazing friends within these pages that have extended into our lives at home. It is because of the family that this forum is that I ask for your support now if you are able to give it. Stretchies sister Rachel was diagnosed a few months ago with a brain tumor that is doing its best to be very nasty. I can say that as much of it as possible was removed and she has recently finished her first course of chemo and radiotherapy. Unfortunately, despite brain tumors like Rachels taking so many lives each year, it is one of the least funded of all the cancers in terms of research. Research is key as the treatment plans can vary so greatly and affect different patients in different ways. Research can mean the difference between months and years of life. To that end, I am making a wig for Rachel out of my hair so cut it off a few weeks ago. On Rachels request though, we decided to try and use it as a fundraising activity in order to raise funds for The Christie, the centre that is treating Rachel and that also conducts a great deal of research into brain cancers, possible cures and treatments. They have looked after Rach incredibly well since she started her treatment with them, helping her every day. I set up a JustGiving account for donations and one of the wonderful Mods mentioned putting something on here in the hope that we can drum up some more support. So...if any of you lovely peeps would like to help us in our support of this amazing cause, please do so by clicking the link below and/or sharing with anyone you can to spread the word. Any amount helps, not matter how big or small http://www.justgiving.com/user/44128500 Thanks for reading and thanks for just being the lovely people that you all are. Cheryl xxx |

No probs. I also did an anti-cancer dance which will hopefully be even more effective!

Re: Need a bit of help please...
One of you lovely people just got us to target so anything now is a massive bonus and all will be very greatfully recieved.
Best thing is, Rach is continuing treatment at this centre, so your fabulous donations will be making a real difference to her, for which Dan and I are humbly thankful. She is actually on her way there now for an appointment and the masses of help and support she is receiving are really helping her to stay positive. Thank you all so so much xxx |

Hope everything goes well GG. It's not a nice thing to go through for anyone involved, just keep positive and hope you raise lots.
