Recommended bike mechanic in Battersea
Hello all.
I need to get my SV serviced. The front brake feels jerky, as in, it works but the lever doesn't feel smooth and I stuggle to control the stop force precisely. Anybody can recommend me a motorcycle mechanic in the Battersea area of London? Somewhere preferably close to Clapham Junction. Last edited by goodgumbo; 23-11-14 at 05:00 PM. |

Re: Recommended bike mechanic in Battersea
Sounds like a great shop, but it is a 40 minute drive I prefer not doing with jerky brakes. Specially since I have no way to get to work from there if I need to drop the bike while it is serviced.
Anybody recommends any mechanic that is closer? |

Wimbledon motorcycles, on Haydons road.
I think Haydons Road station is across the road. Dave the owner is a great guy! helped me out many a time. |

Thanks! That is closer. I live by Clapham Junction and work in Staines.
I will try Wimbledon Motorcycles tomorrow. Just emailed him asking about opening hours. More recommendations are welcome. |

Stewart/Spannerman is just over the road from Sunbury rail station, but you'll find it a long train ride to Staines from there... Shame, as you go for the proper service and you stay for the banter and sense of humour. He's not exactly on my doorstep either but it's still worth the schlep over there.

Re: Recommended bike mechanic in Battersea
Sir Trev, if I went during the weekend I wouldn't mind spending there a few hours. Unfortunately, I have an event in the outskirts of London on Saturday and want to get the bike serviced before so I can ride there without worries.

Re: Recommended bike mechanic in Battersea
First port of call on the brakes, if you own a 10mm spanner & flat head screwdriver:
Take the front brake lever off, use a rag & a little wd40 or similar to clean up all the surfactes either side and put a dab of fresh grease on the lever. Always amazes me when you find a bike with rebuilt calipers and grot on the lever making it stick. Jambo
