Default help with a choice of cage

firstly i wanted a mondeo(2006) but because of depreciation i then went on to a bmw 3 series(2003) which i test drove today and liked very much, trouble is i noticed somethings not quite right with the bmw and got scared away from it?
the problem is ive got a wife and 2 children so need something big for the family, we go camping in the summer so i need a big boot or hatch, and i wanted something a little NICE? ive sold my focus 1.8 zetec (2001) for £2800 and i have in total about 9k to spend?

Audi A4 Tdi estate will be good, for 9K you should be able to get the same plate as a 3 series, if not a bit newer.

IMO they are fantastic cars. My mate has just got a 1.8T sport W 2000 for £3.5K .

they are just as well built if not better due to Audi galvanising the bodywork, and if you get a TDi those engines are bullet proof will do 300K.

Also it makes you look as though you have got some taste as well, everyone gets a 3 series nowadays, too common for my liking.

What about a 5 series, 2002 525 diesel or petrol. You'd get more kit in it than the 3 for the price and once the first 4 years of depreciation have gone it holds its price, and its a bit different from the 3's.

A4 is a good choice, as with Passat, Seat Leon or (I hate to say this) Skoda Octavia. If you fancied something a little more interesting a Jag X-type on a 2003 or S type on a 2002/3 might suit!

Don't bother with Vauxhall. I got a 2006 Vectra 150 SRI last year. It lacks the refinement of the Mondaos I have previously had and is way slower on acceleration than the ST220 I last had. But after 5 mondaos I needed a change.

Which is a Mondeo underneath and it'll depreciate just as fast. ( I think it is, either the X or the S type jag is Mondeo based )

I'd be looking at a Passat or an Audi A4 if it were me.

I know you've ruled it out, but I really wouldnt I love the latest gen Mondeo's they are great to drive and well spec'd to.

That is nothing for an Audi engine as long as it hasa FSH.

Had a look around me (bath Bristol) seen a coulpe between 60-80K 52-03 for 9K , all Tdi, they seem to hold their value better.
