Default "Tail Tidy" ... what and why?

Hi, a few SVs for sale are described as having tail tidies. I understand that this is to do with the numberplate and indicator mountings, but what exactly does it do and how does it differ from stock? Any before and after pictures for example?

Thanks, Tony S

Hi the tail tidy just does what it says.
The original is a big plastic nasty looking thing the tail tidy is a lot smaller and neater I have a r and g one on mine.

OK I guess these are the original vs "tidy". I don't think I've seen the original tail in the flesh so the tidy must be a popular fit ..

...Nevermind, you beat me to posting pics

And yep, the first thing I did to my SV when I had it, R&G tidy's are the norm it seems

You don't seem to have a numberplate any more, or is it REALLY small?

When I bought my SV it had an R&G tail tidy - as I don't like the 'tail tidy' look I put the original mud guard back on and much prefer it (and find I keep cleaner) so don't think they are compulsory

Not a pic of my bike (I no longer have an SV like a lot on this forum). That was a pic of a bike fitted with an R&G tidy, no plate attached...not that the pic mattered, once I had posted and realised you had already found pics so removed the ones I found...

Agree R&G tail tidy is the best looking. Also true is that road crud gets thrown all over the back of bike compared with original, which is probably why it's so big and ugleee. Looks and constant wiping down or OE? I'm going to keep wiping off the dirt, you have to make that decision.

Tail tidys are IMO better looking and more practical. It's easier to remove the rear wheel without the snow plow!

Granted, i do get a bit more spray on the number plate/topbox but i can live with that.
