This could be a very good thing. Harley must be very profitable as they hardly spend anything on R&D - one model year is pretty much the same as the next, apart from minor tweaks. Their bikes are pretty basic and must be cheap to build, but sell for twice the price of similar bikes from other manufacturers. They also sell a lot of bikes, especially in the states. So they could inject much needed money into MV.

The other thing that Harley have, and that the Italians need, is superb build quality and reliability.

I very much doubt that MV are going to start making low-power lumpy v-twins with no handling. In fact, Harley have recently started to make bikes aimed at the European market with such revolutionary features (at least for them) as brakes and suspension that work.

After the management buyout in the 80's. Ever owned one? I have. They're really solidly engineered, well-built and extremely reliable bikes.

And things go full circle. Cagiva bought out Harley in the late 70's IIRC.
