Default Be safe - be seen?

I have had one of those unfortunate days today where I have been invisible to everything and everyone - from artics to bl00dy scooters.

I wear a silver lid and over my black textiles I wear a high-vis (with reflective stripes) vest.

...but still I am not being seen - so what more can I do?

Yeah - there are 2 sides to staying safe as it gets darker, and colder ....

1. Lights, clothing, etc .....which you seem to have covered....
2. Defensive riding - slow down, keep your distance, be aware lights are lights and a bike can look like a car in the distance....

Take your time, and keep safe why people get used to the dark again....

+1 for defensive riding.

Assume they haven't seen you, and that they think those mirror thingies they have are for looking at ones self, not the road/view behind.

A good tip I've adopted is, after dark, upon seeing a car waiting to turn out from a juction, gently weave in your lane, so your headlight won't be mistaken for one of the car's headlights behind you.

Odd that. I never wear any hi-viz and wear all black kit on an all black bike. I never get anyone pulling out on me or appearing to have not seen me.

The only concession I make towards visibility is having my headlight on permanently, but I can't turn the bugger off.

I've felt like that on the road ever since I moved to England, honestly, folk drive around in an bloody dream-world down here, but then at least 'cos nobody cares what everyone else is doing there's less road rage.
