Wheel Bearings
Drifted out my brothers rear RH side wheel bearing on Saturday, as it was fooked. Fitted new Koyo bearing.
The old bearing was made by a company called EBI bearings. Doing some research on Internet and find out these are Chinese made. Now these two bearings were supplied and fitted by a Suzuki dealer less than a year ago. I have 2 questions really... Is it normal for a bearing to fail after only a short period?? and are EBI of OEM quality??

Re: Wheel Bearings
yes but only if it had a defect to start with and no a good quality bearing should last an absolute minimum of 30k. one of the biggest killers of bike wheel bearings is jet washing around the seal, it will drastically reduce the life of the bearing as you are forcing water where it does not belong. always buy double shielded bearings as it keeps the grease where it belongs instead of pushing it out.
never heard of them. this is not to say that they are poor quality as a lot of very good quality bearings come from china. i would be having a word with the dealer. |

Re: Wheel Bearings
He never cleans his bike so I can rule jet washing out
EBI 6204 RS was the bearing that was removed. We fitted a Koyo equivalent from Wemoto. I'll speak to the dealer and see if I can gather any info as to what bearings they supply and fit.

Re: Wheel Bearings
Otherwise good bearings that are improperly installed can fail quickly also, if they are damaged in installation, or not properly lubed before installation or installed with foreign matter in the grease.
