Bikes not suited to the type of road
We're on holiday in North Yorkshire, and on a walk we'd just walked back down an old cart track into the village. The track is tarmac at the village end, but after half a mile it quickly degenerates into a real goat track with a 1 in 5 gradient and nothing but mud and broken stones.
As we get to the bottom, three bikes turn up the track. First, an Africa Twin, then a Tenéré, and finally .... a Speed Triple. Good luck to him, I would NOT like to ride anything that wasn't a trailie / ADV bike up there! |

Re: Bikes not suited to the type of road
Nick Sanders seems to specialise in inappropriate bikes - round the world on an R1!

Re: Bikes not suited to the type of road
I remember seeing some of his videos.
Compare his experience to mine - riding over Barmouth Bridge on the way out from the BPW I may have picked a bit of the sand that was all across the path at the far end (that I thought both of us would crash on). Spannerman says that even though my chain is well lubed it has a tight link, so im a tad suspicious. Trumpets are possibly a bit more fragile than R1s
