Talking GoPro RAM mount on Pointy.

Been looking at where to fit a camera onto the bike for a while now as I don't really like the cameras mounted to the helmets, not to say that I probably wont try it, but most of the time I'll have camera fitted onto the bike.

Bought a GoPro Hero 3 White. Fitted a 1" RAM Ball to the mirror mount base, fitted 1" RAM Ball to GoPro housing then used small RAM arm to connect them.

So far so good. I'll try and get a couple of videos uploaded to Youtube this weekend.

The RAM ball attached to the mirror is a cool idea.

I run with a Drift Ghost plopped on top of my head, making me look like a Pikmin. I've it for insurance purposes though, and I'd be missing out on everything either side of me without it.

How stable is the video footage? I've no idea how much vibration you get attached to the cone.

Its not too bad, there is a wee bit vibration, but I can live with it.

See quite a few with cameras on the sides of there lids.
The GP do look a bit chunky. I'd though the wind might catch it.
I like the Sony ones as they are thin and long but technomoan guy rates the SJ4000.a go pro copy

The go pro on top of your head does catch the wind and its annoying, all the vloggers tend to have them on the side of their helmets (Same effect I imagine) or on their chins, the chin looks like the best place, its where I would put mine if I bought another.

Looks tidy on the wing mirror though

J-mount on the chin definitely seems best for GoPros.

I tried on the side of the helmet and on-top, and there definitely is some resistance goign 'very fast' but not enough to stop top mounting a camera. It could also be a form factor issue though, the Drift and Contour have much more appropriate profiles.

Your head makes a quiet good anti vibration mount.
The mirror mount looks like a winner

I have mine mounted on a curved base on the screen. Black base is barely noticeable on the tint screen when Gopro not fitted. No shakes and good footage.

Default GoPro RAM mount on Pointy.

Nice work!

I made something similar recently. No ram mount/ball, just an ally base for use with a sticky adhesive mount. Works a treat
