Default Race clip-ons

Following my off on sat I need a new clip-on. Seeing as they're not cheap from breakers, there are none on ebay and a new replacement is verging on extorsion, I'm thinking of getting some race clip-ons.

However, something that concerns me is what'll happen if I drop it again. As there is no lug/bolt to locate into the yoke, the only thing that'll stop the clip-on from rotating if hit hard enough are the pinch bolts.

Seeing as I cant see the pinch bolts putting up much resistance in a crash, am I likely to have the clip-on rotating on the fork and damaging the tank?

Right. But unless the clip on you've stumbled on is from a K3-4 GSX-R1000, it wont fit

I had some helibars, only the pinch bolt secured them. In my crash last year the right one bent before moving. I still dented the tank, but that was with my knee slider...

The locating bolt is just that, so the 'bar goes in the right place, it adds sod all to the resistance of the clip on rotating, if there's enough force to move the clamp on the fork leg the locating bolt will give out in a heartbeat - so don't worry about it.

My LSLs only have the pinch bolts and didn't move an inch when I, er, tested them. But then, they're designed that way. I've always been a bit less sure of that with ones that come with location bolts or pins, but then, I'd listen to Mr Squid

LSL High-offset Sports Match by the way, are excellent for the SV/GSXR conversion- you lose clipon height 2 ways with GSXR parts, the forks are short and the bars are low. Most race clipons are lower still, the LSLs give you some height back. Which you may or may not want, but I was glad for it. Top tip from SV650Racer, those. Not cheap, though, but then, not drastically more than a used pair of OE ones.
