I am going to need a new back tyre in the next few hundred miles, especially as Manchester will be completely p1ssed though until at least March next year. Any suggestions for good quality tyres & where to get them from.
If there is a thread I should see, please let me know. Thanks guys, Alan Last edited by maultin; 07-12-07 at 07:11 PM. |

I've been trying out the Continental Road Attack rear tyre because the standard tyre only lasted 5000 miles, so far so good I have done coming up to about 2000 on it and it has really kept its shape and like new. so I'd recommend the Conti

i think you will find most people will recommend,
michelin road pilot 2s or metzeler z6s probably better to buy f/r as a pair,....i did a thread on here not so long back on mixing differant makes of tyres and came to realise it would not be a good idea for handling purposes http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...t=mixing+tyres |

Wat tyres have you currently got fitted? Try and get the same as the front tyre, since tyre tread pattrns are designed to work together for the same model of tyre. Anywho, I changed my previous tyres ( metzeler MEZ4's) for a set of metzeler MEZ6's. Brilliant tyres, much better than MEZ4's. Dying to try the michelin road pilots two's though, whats the milage like in them anyone?
Oh, and I changed my tyres as a pair even though the front had loads of life left, but thats because I didnt like the MEZ4's, they slid about alot Matt |

For winter I would recommend Avon ST storm. Fantastic wet or damp tyre. Works well in the cold. I am using them on the Dullsville and have been very impressed indeed.

the tyres on it at the moment are ME Z4s.
The front looks fine, but the back needs replacing pretty soon. i have found a ME Z4 back tyre for £75 but alpinestarhero's comments concern me a bit. |

I've never ridden on those, but have heard some stories about lack of grip and slippyness. Those were also the original fitment on the SV so I suspect that may be the original tyres. Which if so that front will be past its best in terms of age as its 8 years old. Have a good look at that front, is the rubber hard, does it look perished dont just look at the tread depth, has the bike been stood for along time on that front tyre is the profile OK ?
If it were me I'd change both especially at this time of year you want as much grip and feel from the tyres thats available to you. Any of the above suggestions will be fine. But personally I would recommend the Metzler Z6 I dont think you'll be disappointed with them, I've never been.
