Default Flashing indicator malarky grrrr

Hi all,

Ok, in a nutshell:

1. Girlfriend following twice complained of me not indicating.
2. Realised rear left flasher wasn't working.
3. Went to Hein Gericke to buy replacement.
4. Fitted replacement, and pressed button on the immobilizer keyfob to check
all 4 indicators came on. Which they did.
5. Went to go home, but bike wouldn't start.
6. Scratched head in bewilderment.
7. Decided to push start the fecker.
8. On moving it into run up position, alarm went off.
9. Cancelled alarm with keyfob, went through pre flight immobilizer sequence. Bike started fine.
10. Rear left indicator not working again?
11. Front left indicator now flashing at double speed??
12. Got cross, rode home, bike in garage, me in front of pc.

Can anyone help please?!?

Cheers

When one of your bulbs goes the other on that side will always flash faster. I can't remember why but it's bound to be down to increased resistance or something affecting the flasher unit/circuit.

I'm afraid I can't explain the other faults

Ok, cheers. Maybe I got the wrong new bulb - it was really hard to see what was on the bulb that came out as I had to grasp it with the long nose pliers and ground down the text on there. Gah!

I always thought that was deliberate so you knew if a bulb had blown between the weekly checks that you always do.

I've just fixed My sons SVs rear indicator. The earth wire in the holder had come loose causing the same problem.

Came home today, started the bike in the normal way and everything worked as it should, inc the indicator in question. So going to put it down to the immobilizer messing with it, and some bad timing, and hope its nothing more than that!

The reason they flash faster is cos you have less load on the flasher unit so it as a result flashes faster. Sounds like a dodgy wire and some alarm problems (I had my chepo alarm on my 125 keep jamming on the indicators when riding.. so disconnected it and reconnected it and the indicators would return to normal but now I have permanently disconnected the alarm because it was annoying/dangerous)
