Default Brown pipes....kwak needed!!!

I got the exhaust system brought home to scrub on Friday night, and settled down to doing it this evening....but what I've found is that that brown downpipe is soooooo brown I can't get it shiny. The damn thing won't get like the black bikes pipe for love nor money

so

apart from taking it to a nice man to do it for me...is there an easy way to get em done, using a little elbow grease??
i've tried alsorts and so far.....nowt

Ok, fairly drastic, but if the pipes are off, try oven cleaner. It sounds like there are years of carbon deposits baked on.

Check the instructions, but I would have thought it won't damage stainless steel.

it aint stainless steel is it? or if it is its a very shi#y grade of s/steel, personaly id still give it a go. even clean polished pipes go brown and its a bugger to keep them shiney silver.

Pretty sure they're stainless Kwak, even if low grade. They're certainly not mild steel or chrome.
