Right. i'm peee'd off
![]() Found a screw in my rear tyre today, and it's right in the centre of the tread. Is this repairable ?? as i can't afford a new tyre, and this one has loads of life left. Anyone know if this is in the repairable area of the tyre? I'm not sure ,so any help would be great. |

If the screw has gone straight in then yes it is repairable. If it has done in at any sort of wierd angle it may not be.

If it's in the middle of the tread it should be OK to plug. Might be worth having it plugged properly with the tyre off the bike as these are regarded as more "permenant" repairs than the get you home type where you push the plug in and pull out again cutting off the excess.

Phone your local tyre shops to see if they will patch a Z rated motorcycle tyre. Then go to one that says yes. If they look at it and decide it's not safe then so be it, but usually you're ok

All depends on the angle of the screw as well as its positioning. In the middle is good, it can be repaired but if the screw has gone in at a sharp angle it probably won't be fixable. If a guy says 'hmm... yeah It should be ok' then walk away and find someone that can give you a definite answer, its your safety remember!

See Jambo above - go somewhere else or get hold of Crafty Plugger & do it youurself. (given info above - sounds repairable)

thanks for the info guys.
I might have a go at getting the wheel off myself and taking it the a garage. is it easy to get off, ? or is it best to just let the garage do it.? |
