Unhappy Another man down...

Feeling a little better now, so I'd better join the rest of todays drop club and fill everyone in.

I went out with my local IAM group, to see what the fuss was about, and to get out a bit more when no-one else wants to. I've pulled up at a slip road to mark the turn for the rest of the guys, and as myself and the backmarker have started preparing to move off a car has hit him from behind-right with a late exit. They have then hit me and sat me on my backside, which is the main source of my problems at present (banged ass-bone).

I haven't yet seen the damage to the bike though, apart from the badly smashed plastics and a dented tank. Apparently, its in the care of Notts police at present. Fully comp insurance to the rescue for that though, so it should be as good as new or will be new.

Sorry to hear this Oliver, and glad you seem to be not too badly hurt. Hope the other rider is ok too.

It shouldn't be your insurance which pays out anyway, but that of the person who hit you, and if that was the other rider, he will be claiming off the car drivers insurance..............which means a double-whammy for the driver!

Just a limp, the lucky sod - I think he might have had it beforehand too.

Could have been a lot worse - he was riding a new goldwing, which is comparable to an oil tanker for size. If he'd have gone down hard, there probably would have been a hole to the mine workings underneath

Sorry to be so practical at a time like this, but get your bike back as soon as possible. I don't know the specifics of the police area you are in, but some areas charge a substantial amount to store your bike! Hope you are feeling better soon.

Dude feel better soon, I hope you and your bike mend quickly and you back on the road...

As for the above I wouldn't worry mate, when my car got wrote off the clown that hit me paid out the cost of storage and to get rid of it. Was the other guys insured, if he his all will be payed for, plus as you were injurred they pay out for that as well. Good luck, hope it works out.

Sounds promising, at any rate - I'm sure the other guys insurance will cover it, as he didn't try anything stupid like bailing.

I'm hoping the bike isn't a writeoff at the moment, although its a possibility - the last off I had cost 1500 for plastics alone, and this is much more substantial. Anyone know what the value is on a K6 Sport with 16k on the clock?

Maybe that GSXR750 I was tempted by in the stealers last week is within reach after all Silver linings are for reaching out and grabbing, right - I'll need a hand reaching for it though

i agree. when i worked in a solicitors office we were dealing with an accident claim for a biker. he was in a bad smash and the police contacted local recovery guy to remove the bike. anyway biker was in a coma for 3 months, the police contacted his wife to say the bike could be collected but as she was so worried about her hubby she forgot. anyway biker had many injuries including brain damage. we contacted the recovery company during the claim to find out when he had disposed of the bike. he said he hadnt. he then sent the biker a bill for storage costs ?6k not bad for an old bike that was worth maybe ?1k before the accident.

left the solicitors so dont know the outcome - sorry.

hope your bum is better soon
